Have your own Easter Egg Hunt at home!

While the current lockdown is in place and usual venues for Easter Egg Hunts are closed, why not do your own at home, or in the garden if you have one. Kids love hunting for things, so if you do have enough eggs and can get them outside in the garden they’ll love it. If you don’t have an abundance of eggs or you have don’t much chocolate in the house then maybe hide other things with an alternative winning prize at the end. You could hide their teddies, stuffed toys in the house and ask them to search for them by name; with the prize at the end being their Easter Egg.

Zoos are live streaming their animal attractions during lockdown!

So here’s another great idea for your young ones and YOU! I don’t know about you but I love going to the zoo, so why let the lockdown stop us? Many zoos have been live streaming their animals so that everyone can enjoy seeing and learning about these beautiful creatures living on our planet. Enjoy seeing the apes cam, penguins, koala bears and so much more. So do you fancy a trip to San Diego Zoo? Well click here and enjoy seeing the animals together, but remember to come back for more great home activities.

Listen to stories from the wonderful world of children's author David Walliams

Enjoy listening to stories at Eleven from children’s author David Walliams, you can also listen to stories if you have missed any! From titles such as The World’s Worst Children you will laugh and enjoy the different characters and what they get up to. If you haven’t listened yet you will probably enjoy listening to KUNG FU KYLIE! I know! How cool is that! Click here to listen. But do remember to come back for more great home activities.

Make delicious Easter Egg Nest Cakes for you and your family

These popular little cakes are great to make with your children and they’re totally yummy!

Preparation time: less than 30 minutes
Cooking time: less than 10 minutes
Makes: 12
Eating time: About a minute and a half!

Ingredients

  • 225g/8oz plain chocolate, broken into pieces
  • 2 tbsp golden syrup
  • 50g/2oz butter
  • 75g/2¾oz cornflakes
  • 36 mini chocolate eggs

Method

  1. First of all line a 12-pocket fairy cake tin with your paper cases.

  2. Then melt the chocolate, golden syrup and butter in a bowl set over a saucepan of gently simmering water (do not let the base of the bowl touch the water). Stir the mixture until it’s smooth and by the way while it’s melting it smells lovely.

  3. Carefully remove the bowl from the heat and then gently stir in the rice crispies, or cornflakes (whichever you prefer) until all of the cereal is coated in the yummy chocolate.

  4. Divide the mixture between the paper cases and press 3 chocolate mini eggs into the centre of each nest. Chill in the fridge for 1 hour, or until completely set.

  5. Share them out, eat and enjoy!
