Little Dragons Syllabus Training

Introduction

Here is a collection of syllabus training videos for our Little Dragon students to practice from at home. These videos accompany the techniques we cover in our weekly classes and we will continue to regularly update this page with more recordings as we progress through the syllabus. Whilst we do cover a range of scenarios there are so many techniques we could apply so we always aim to record as many as we can to keep the training as fun and varied as possible. We record techniques as solo drills as well as showing them with a partner to demonstrate their practical applications. We recommend that students watch one, then practice a few times until you are confident with them before moving onto another one.

Please keep in mind that PERSEVERANCE and REPETITIVE PRACTICE is key. If you have any questions about this training or you are finding it difficult to follow, then please get in touch with us; we are here to help you progress not to put you under pressure. Have fun!

Overview

These syllabus training videos are designed for our Little Dragons; Beginners and Intermediates. It takes you through the understanding of applying techniques from Siu Nim Tao, (our first form). During this syllabus we will be training and looking at Interrupted Attacks. We will be using various repetitive training drills for building muscle memory and developing instinctive reactions. Discussion on strikes, redirection, how an opponent may react is also covered to help students understand if and when any follow up techniques are needed. Importantly footwork training will also accompany all techniques.

Completing this syllabus will help:

  • Develop instinctive reactions with appropriate responses
  • Return the protecting hand, (wu sau) back to position
  • Build focus and concentration
  • Improve balance and posture
  • Learn about the use of reasonable force
  • When and when not to react to aggression
